Covid-19 2020

Before booking your appointment online, You are required to speak to Sheila and give assurance that you and your household are free of virus symptoms.

Osteopaths at Osteowork wear masks and gloves and have materials on the couch and in the office which are cleaned on a regular basis.

In the waiting area at The Silk Mill there are distance markers and plenty of hand sanitisers at the entry and exit and by the lift and stairs. There is also a sink in the waiting area for you to wash your hands. There are Ladies and Gents Lavatories. This area is kept clean.

You will be collected from the waiting area at your appointment time. If you would prefer to wait in your car, if you have been able to park on site, you will be escorted from the car to the treatment room.

Case History

Sheila will take a thorough case history and will take into account all aspects of you or your child’s life and evaluate what may be triggering current problems.

Examination

With your permission Sheila will examine you or your child and carry out simple mobility tests to establish how well you or your child’s body is coping with daily activities.

You will probably be asked to undress down to your underwear, especially at your first appointment. YOU ARE NOT OBLIGED TO DO THIS.

Treatment

If you are still happy for treatment to go ahead, Sheila will place her hands on relevant areas of your body to gain an understanding of your general health. This, to an Osteopath, is a bit like reading a book as it gives us information from the tissues we feel and from here we can make a
diagnosis.

Treatment is aimed at relief of current symptoms and the underlying causes and you will be given the opportunity to discuss how your lifestyle may be adapted to aid rehabilitation. Sheila always uses gentle techniques which tune into your body’s rhythms on many levels.

Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
Adult patients may bring a chaperone if desired.

How often should I be treated?

Two or three weekly follow up appointments when you first come will make sure that your body is responding well to treatment and cover any other issues which may arise.

What works best for most people is to book in for preventative or top up treatments every few weeks or months depending on the problem.
